Prosthodontics focuses on repairing or replacing missing teeth using a variety of techniques.
Fixed prosthodontics include bridges, crowns, and dental implants. They are fitted specifically to a tooth or teeth and fixed into place. When well cared for, fixed devices will last for anywhere from five to 15 or more years, depending on the material from which they are made.
Removable prosthodontics include full dentures or partial dentures, which are removed daily for cleaning. Proper care and maintenance of removable prosthodontics will ensure a longer lifespan, however changes to a person’s jaw structure with age can impact the fit and function of removable prosthodontics.
